Food Well Manchester

Opened in early 2019, Foodwell Manchester promised to bring a taste of LA to Salfords New Bailey, serving up a menu of healthy inspired food alongside daily classes of Yoga and pilates. With 120 covers in the restaurant, a large outdoor terrace and wellness studio, Food Well is a concept unlike any other in the city.

Tenancy Issues

Wayleave Agreement

One key issue encountered during the installation of Food Wells connectivity was the lack of wayleave consent. A wayleave is the consent in writing that allows Openreach to carry out work on privately owned land. It is a written, legal agreement that grant’s access to install, maintain and repair network equipment. In some cases, this consent is not specified or included in the terms  of a lease agreement, which can result in additional costs for the tenant which are payable to the landlord.
Affordable Connectivity

Uncontended Connectivity & 4g Failover

As a venue where the number of customers connecting to the internet during the day would be high, Foodwell required sufficient connectivity to provide a first class Wi-Fi experience. The restaurant bills itself as a place which encourages long dwell times, allowing customers to eat, work and exercise all under one roof.  Striking a balance between having connectivity able to cater for the high number of customers for long periods of time and offer affordability.

Obtaining the wayleave agreement

Acting as a point of liaison between Food Well and the landlord, Korubu assisted with the negotiation of the terms of the wayleave agreement. During this negotiation period, Korubu installed a 4g network as a temporary solution which powered the entire restaurant’s operation prior to OpenReach’s installation.

Smart Hospitality

Korubu installed its Smart Hospitality stack that included Meraki Routers, switches and access points across the venue. Avaya handsets were preconfigured ready to be connected as soon as the circuit was live in the venue. A secure private network was created for critical services and a Guest Wi-Fi network for its customers to connect to.
